Large Antique Japanese Imari Porcelain Charger, Meiji Period c.1890–1910, 12"
A large and highly decorative Japanese Imari porcelain charger dating to the late Meiji period, circa 1890–1910. Measuring approximately 12 inches in diameter, this striking piece is decorated in the traditional Imari palette of deep cobalt blue underglaze with overglaze iron red and gilt highlights. The design is arranged in alternating panel reserves featuring stylised floral sprays, foliage and basket motifs, all beautifully framed within a scalloped lobed rim that gives the charger strong visual presence. The colours remain rich and well-balanced, with fine detailing throughout. The charger is in very good antique condition, with no chips or cracks and only light age-related surface wear and minor gilt rubbing consistent with its age. An excellent example of late 19th-century Japanese export Imari, ideal for wall display, cabinet presentation or as a statement decorative piece. This charger does have a small hairline fracture which is reflective of the price.
