c.1890–1910 - Japanese Meiji Period Kutani - Imari Style Censer-Form Lidded Porcelain Jar – Phoenix Finial
A decorative Japanese porcelain lidded jar in censer form, dating to the late Meiji period, circa 1890–1910. This finely decorated piece is painted in the Kutani / Imari export style, with iron-red enamels, gilt detailing, and hand-painted bird and floral panels.
The jar features tripod feet, scroll handles, and a sculptural phoenix finial to the lid. While inspired by traditional incense burner forms, this example was produced as a decorative export piece rather than a functional incense burner, intended for display in Western interiors.
